Mosaic Bags With A Story and History. Pieces of art, with a story to tell which are oh so beautiful. Each bag is handmade, providing an income for remote villagers in Northern Pakistan.
Go-Kismet offers numerous versions with two variations (envelop mosaic is the second variation which may be found under mosaic envelop). Before you purchase, be sure to view all mosaic styles. The pictured pieces are called crescents which are 9 inches long, 6 inches high, wit a width of 2 inches wide. These bags make great gifts and will be appreciated by those with a social conscious or an artisan interest.
All have a delicate chain that may be used as a shoulder strap or a cross body strap. Chains may be tucked into the bag and the bag may be used as a clutch. I personally use the bags as a clutch. As soon as you place on of these bags on a table, you will receive compliments and inquiries. Great story and so beautiful.
Each bag bag has a metal clasp that secures the hinged top. Bags are lined with a felt material.
I have successfully placed a lipstick, keys, credit card holder and a comb in mine.
The FIRST bag picture is a brightly colored mosaic with a stone placed in the center. This is a bag that looks great with dresses, jeans, suits, and evening attire. Pick one color to focus on and select a bright solid shoe to match.
The SECOND bag pictured is a beautiful bag finished in pounded metal which draws light to the bag. Stones are a bright aqua tone meshed with a bright orange stone that has bee used to create a pattern. This bag is stunning when coupled with a turquoise necklace and earrings.
The THIRD bag featured is a quiet, subtle mosaic in navy with pearlized stones that create a classic look. A floral pattern is created with the pearlized stones and meals used to secure the stones. Looks great against navy, black or cream.
These beautiful mosaic bags are created in the northern tribal region of Pakistan. These bags were originally created from the rubble and debris left after a massive earthquake that killed thousands. Left without homes, crops, and supplies; the villagers sifted through the rubble locating broken ceramics, tiles, etc. These mosaic bags were created to generate revenue and feed families. Today, the villagers sill make these bags using repurposed materials, new materials, and unusual objects. They are beautiful and a conversation piece when carried. I personally own four variations and LOVE them.
