The Go Kismet Heritage Home Collection
Periodically we come across craftsmanship that is remarkable and limited. Our heritage collection focuses on one-of-a-kind pieces that are irreplaceable, hand-crafted, and difficult to secure. These are unique, museum-quality pieces. Whenever possible, Go Kismet will include a history of the region, technique, and traditional use, so that you may fully appreciate the beauty of each item. Pieces in this collection should be dry cleaned or spot-cleaned only. We will be introducing such collections on a regular basis, whenever we come across investment pieces from various regions of the world.

Heritage Collection Line: Gotina Tilla
The Gotina Tilla Collection is from the Cholistan Desert, adjoining the Tharparker Area in Pakistan. The area, bordering Rajasthan in India, is remote, desert-like and impoverished. Due to the proximity to India, the region has a sizeable Hindu population that coexists alongside the Muslim population. Their homogenous existence has created a culture which supersedes their individual religions.
Our Gotina Tilla pieces are handmade and at least 75 years old. These pieces are painstakingly constructed and then pieced together to create a wall hanging approximately 38 inches by 70 inches. Two women would have worked together to create the hanging over a period of three months. It was traditionally used as a floor cloth in ancient times; wall hangings are the usual use today to ensure the preservation of the piece. When framed and lighted, it can be the focus piece of a room.

Heritage Collection Line: Tikri Ari
The Tikri Ari form of embroidery was originally used for making covers for Palangs, traditional open strapped beds framed in wood. Unmarried girls would work on a piece to illustrate their skill set in embroidery prior to marriage. The girls were taught embroidery between the ages of four to five years of age, starting with cushions and then advancing to squares. These refined pieces were then patched together and saved until marriage and offered as part of the dowry. Owning many ralli quilts used to be a measure of wealth. Though the dowry system still exists today in this region of Tharparker, these fine pieces are rarely made by unmarried girls or their mothers, as this age-old tradition is fast-dying.

Heritage Collection Line: Kambiri Gochner
Kambiri Gochner is a type of craft originally applied to cloth used for covering bread once baked in the Tharparker region, within the Sindh Province of Pakistan. Stitching increases the weight of the cloth, which allows it to retain the heat without depressing the bread. The Kambiri craft requires only one cloth to be hand-embroidered, creating a pattern using lines and shapes.
The government of Pakistan recently hosted a handicraft and embroidery competition with more than two hundred artisans. Our selected provider was awarded 1st prize by the government, both for skill and for contributing to saving a dying craft. Each original piece is unique, non-uniform, and fits most bed sizes.

Heritage Collection Line: Resham Rillis
Resham Rillis were originally made with silk threads and used as Palang covers. The production of one cloth requires three women working up to five months, six hours daily. An outline is generated and squares are blocked with the design. It is common for the one cloth to be produced by a collective family as the women have to sit together daily to work on a piece. The process is similar to a traditional patchwork quilt, squares are designed, replicated, and then attached. These cloths are precious to the community and thought to ward off lightning. Today, silk blended threads are used for practicality. All Resham Rilli cloths are made to fit both queen/double beds.

Heritage Collection Line: Roida Gaal
Roida Gaal cloths are simple handmade bed cloths that represent a beautiful blend of old and new. Although the techniques used are traditional, artisans have, over the years, incorporated both traditional and more contemporary patterns using figures, flowers, and animals to create whimsical designs. These designs can be subtle or dramatic. A favorite of Go Kismet due to the versatility of the cloth. Carol drapes them over couches, tables, and at the end of beds. Roida Gaal cloths may be specially ordered requesting both colors and patterns. Special orders require three to four months, but well worth the wait. The traditional size is 6 feet by 4 feet.

Heritage Collection Line: Lungi
Lungi is part of the traditional Sufi dress of yesterday, made in pure silk. All lungis are designed to be folded into a small square for safe keeping. The finer the fabric, the smaller the square. The Lungi was traditionally worn by the pronounced groom at his engagement. The fabric today is hand-loomed, forming a horizontal stripe that casts a beautiful sheen with silk threads interspersed. Go Kismet has adapted the fabric of the lungi, lining the back with solid fabric and tasseled at each end. These are designed to be used as a runner at the end of a bed. Using colorful embellished throw pillows, a bed can come alive with color, yet represent a classic feel.
Size: Length 6 feet by 2 feet
Colors: Navy stripe, purple stripe, deep turquoise stripe
Price: $35 per unit for bed runners
Heritage Collection Line: Dedria Darro
Dedria Darro is a technique used for making bed cloths using an eclectic blend of new embroidered art forms and embellished antique pieces of yesterday. These cloths have an Indian feel to them due to the proximity of the Tharparker region to the Indian border, and the centuries old influence of hinduism on the culture of the region. A true representation of the homogenous blending of Hindu and Muslim. With the golden hues basking in the warmth of the desert sun, each piece is handmade by four women, who take up to 18 months to produce one cloth. Patchwork quilt method of assembly is applied. Dimensions are not uniform, estimated at 7 feet by 7 1/2 feet.Heritage Item: Dedria Darro Sunrise (pictured below)
